Data Notes
- Sources Information - Data for this site was collected from the NPS National Park Acreage Report (By Park for Calendar Year 2015), the individual NPS unit websites (e.g., blurbs were pulled from index page), and the NPS Index 2012-2016.
- Map Range Rings/Circles - Represent 5 miles and 50 miles.
- Caveat - NPS units that have been authorized but have not completed all necessary steps to become an official unit are not listed. Related/Affiliated areas are also not included.
- Caveat - NPS units that are categorized under multiple units (e.g., Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve) are included as two separate entities. The Manhattan Project National Historical Park is listed as three entities due to distinct disperse locations.
- Caveat - Units with multiple components within the designation (e.g., Boston National Historical Park, National Mall and Parks) are only listed as a single entity.
- Caveat - Physical Address is what is provided by the NPS on each unit's page, unless unavailable. In some instances there may not be a physical address and the closest town/visitor center is provided. Trails (e.g., Appalachian Trail) are based off of a single address and would not show up from a proximity standpoint throughout their full length.
